Not because of 69 number then come this writing. Most of it since the year of 2014 has remarked moment for Indonesia future. Presidential election was not running smooth, several strikes has also coloured days in our calendar. Two of them are belong to another craziness situation happened recently. it is the wait and see time from business people for a while. becoming stagnant at least until fresh news arrives, until flesh blood fulfil president position in Indonesia.

But hey, I am not going to talk about politics anyway… if can, avoiding so is an advantage.

How you remember old time of Aug 17 anniversary in your community nearby? I still remember mine 🙂

I grew in southern part of Jakarta, where family value is our priority, where neighbours are easily gathered for ‘kenduri’ at night before Aug 17 celebration day. Families were took seats on streets, covered by panda leaves mat, mothers were cooking ‘Nasi tumpeng’ and served hot tea and coffee for beverages. On the occasion, together we pray for country’s safe and bright future, thankful for late heroes who had set Indonesia into a free nation. Children, including me, were playing around our parents who sat nicely on streets, even sometimes we were laughing hard for no burden that night, awaited for tomorrow 17an race. irreplaceable…

By next, early morning, we follow mandatory ceremony in our schools. 17an race was coming afterwards. The committee was a bunch of teenagers and other helpers including my mom for sure. I could recall how she was very active during community event, and a volleyball athlete as well. Super mom I had! *proud kid*

All race was usually finished at the latest 3 PM. Winners announcement was done afterwards in a stage prepared by committee with some line up of fun music, people singing and dancing, some speeches, and finally announcement. To me, small win at ‘Makan kerupuk’ race was a hit! you should experience the feeling when MC called your name and gave you prize as 1st winner. Small but it was meaningful… more over when you had it for two years in a row, hahaha. Love that day!
